Ever hear your friends exclaim “Oh I found it on the web”?

In today’s world more and more people are doing the bulk of their shopping online. With options of having the merchandise delivered to your door, or picking up your items at your nearest outlet where all you have to do is pick up the items you have ordered online. With some websites you can also have items drop shipped to a different address, which is a great way to get your gifts delivered directly to the recipient.

If you are like a lot of other people you have gone to your pc and not been computer savvy enough to find something you want or that might be of interest to you. With technology being updated everyday it’s no wonder the casual personal computer user can not effortlessly navigate all the different websites that are out there, because each one is different.

Most sites have a search box where you can enter an item and find all the different sites that have what you are looking for. How you use this tool will dictate how successful your search will be.  The more specific you are the better your results will be.

For instance, if you are looking for a “paperweight”, and that is all you put in the search box, you will come up with so many sites it will be very discouraging, because it takes a lot of time to look through every site. If on the other hand you type in “round paperweight” OR “crystal paperweight” the options will be narrowed down considerably. This works for individual sites as well as search engines.

In other words, the more information you use in your searches the happier your shopping experience will be.

You can take the search approach one step further. Try searching for “personalized round paperweights” without the quotes and then do it again using “personnalized round paperweights” with the quotes. This will only return pages where all three words are together.

More and more people are using more specific keywords and quotes on their searches to reduce the number of spammy sites they have to wade through.

    Happy searching!
