Why does my credit card show 2 charges?
When you place your order online with a credit card from Wealthwood Gifts, we follow the below procedures to protect you, the customer, from fraudulent use.
There are 2 steps to process your credit card.
Step 1.
We verify your card number with your billing name and address. At this time we also verify that funds are available for the total of your order and reserve (hold) the dollar amount of your order. It will appear on your online reporting like a charge to your card, while in fact it is reserving funds.
Step 2.
When your order is shipped you will see another transaction for the amount of the order and a reversal of the reserved funds amount from step 1.
Notes:
- If you check your credit/debit card balances on line, it may appear that we have charged you twice for your order. If you check the “credit” section of your on line transactions, you will notice a credit for the “reserved” dollar amount.
- These transactions are only visible if you check your balance on line. When you receive your monthly hard copy statement, the only transaction that will appear will be that of the final charged amount.
- If you cancel your order after we have done step 1, that dollar amount will drop off after 7-14 business days. Your monthly hard copy statement will not show any transactions from Wealthwood Gifts.
- If you use PayPal, you are charged when you authorize the payment with Paypal when the order is placed.
This is a common procedure followed by most mail order catalog companies. Other sites that use a different credit card processing service usually charges your card when the order is placed instead of after it ships.
Hopefully, this will help clarify the credit card processing procedures. Please comment below, call or email if you have questions.
