Giving Appreciation Plaques As A Thank You

If you supervise or manage a company, you know that appreciation plaques could be a very important part of getting the other employees to continue doing the great job they have been doing. There are workers that do not bother trying to do better at all, and there are others who rise to the occasion. The ones deserving need to be shown that they are appreciated.

It is a good practice to show praise where it is due. Some supervisors and managers never received praise at any of their jobs. They should know better than anybody that this is a needed expression in the workplace.

When you show your gratitude for a job well done, you will see that it keeps coming back. You will feel good about yourself, as well as feeling that the worker knows you like what he is doing. That worker will continue to be outstanding. And you may have to purchase more plaques, but it is a very small price to pay when someone is working far beyond your expectations, and in fact, making the company and your department look good.

Seminars teach that supervisors and managers should show praise before monetary increases are realized. The worker will also want more money first, and, indeed, he needs it to feed his family. But money is very easily spent, and it does not last long. Raises should definitely be given, of course, and they should be generous when it is possible, but money is spent very easily.

If a raise of twenty dollars a week is given, this is very much appreciated, you can be sure. But it is spent so easily, that it is gone almost as soon as it is received. The employee deserves this, he knows it, and he may spend it on a fancy dinner, or clothes, or other necessities that he has been holding off getting. Whatever it is spent on, it is gone, and he starts his next week without it, and this practice repeats itself. If they are given something they can hold onto, that lasts quite a while longer.

It could be a certificate, a plaque, or even a trophy of sorts. And it will be for doing something better than the other employees. It can even be for never being late, or having the least amount of absences. Some absences cannot be avoided, but some employees really take advantage of this fact and stay out of work more often than they should. They ones who are always there should surely be rewarded.

And there are many other reasons for rewarding an employees with appreciation plaques. They are for those who have outdone the others in one way or another. Appreciation plaques can be taken home and shown to the family with pride. Then, even the family members know that he is doing a great job. And whether it gets put into a drawer, or hung on the wall, he is reminded of how he is respected and recognized in the workplace, no matter what his job is.

A luncheon for everyone might also be a good idea. It will show the other employees that when you present appreciation plaques, they are for employees that care. And this could rub off on the others.
