Women briefcases originally were used only by female attorneys and other high-profile female managers in corporate America. In today's world, however, women briefcases have changed from being something he used to carry paperwork and files into fashion accessories used by everyone to carry iPods, notebooks, laptops, lunch, and of course schoolwork and office files.
To make heavy loads easier to carry, the newer styles have wheels that are frequently retractable. They also come with two types of handles or carriers; many have straps that can turn them into backpacks or over the shoulder type carriers, along with a hard or shorter candle to be carried by hand or even pulled when the wheels are put down.
Unlike business cases of decades ago that came with only a small handle, necessitating one hand was always dedicated to carrying only the briefcase which, in most cases, was pretty heavy, these newer ones have wheels and interchangeable straps.
Even school children can be seen with these wheeled cases which replace their old book bags and even backpacks. Parents and teachers have complained for years that backpacks laden with too many books and homework were becoming a health risk for the children. These backpacks have pretty much been replaced with these newer wheeled cases that can be pulled and stored easily, by children of any age.
If you like to carry food and water with you, some models have special sections that will keep food hot or cold. There are separate holders for travel coffee mugs and even water bottles.
Many also have specialized sections or compartments for foods, coffee cups, and water bottles. Some of these are nothing more than external elastic holders; and others are more stable and permanently affixed to the case itself. Compartments in which laptops can be safely secured are now thinner and better molded to the newer style notebooks and laptops.
Although leather might be more compatible with your individual fashion code, it's definitely not water proof and after some snow or rain storms, you could have a very expensive and very water damaged briefcase on your hands. If you really want leather, make certain to oil it down right away with mink oil or another water proofing mixture to prevent the inevitable.
Many women are choosing their briefcases to match their activities and even there outfits. It's not uncommon to see grad students on campus change from pink to red to a more conservative leather from day to day.
