Stylish, functional and durable: these are the traits of men's leather briefcase. It's a must for every professional man, to help him carry with him some necessities. But it also often comes with a staggering price. And it's due to this that it should receive the right amount of TLC. Below are some methods of ensuring such bag is cared for properly.

To remove dusts that have collected on the surface, a wiping with a cloth that's dry is all it takes. Any fluid spills on the bag should be blotted off using kitchen or paper towel. Allowing it to stay there until it dries up will cause the surface to get stained or discolored. Any sticky particle that touches it, like food, should be removed right away.

If it gets really wet with water, rain, etc. Remove everything inside and allow the briefcase to air dry. If necessary, blot off any excess fluid on the surface as well as inside the bag. Never place it next to an electric heater or any heat source to hasten its drying, or under the direct heat of the sun. This will only cause the leather to dry out, fade and crack.

You may put rolled or crumpled newspaper sheets inside to expose the interior to air when allowing it to dry up. It will help if you can place it in front of an electric fan or where there's flowing air. Remember to completely dry the hardware - buckles, latches, hinges, zippers, twist buttons, etc. This step is important to prevent their rusting.

A much thorough cleaning needs to be done on it periodically. Apply top-of-the-line cleaner for the kind of leather your briefcase is made from. Such can be bought at most hardware, specialty or department stores. Follow it up with a layer of conditioner; apply according to manufacturer's direction on the packaging.

The inside of the bag should also get more or less the same amount of consideration. In cleaning it, remove the contents. Hold it upside down and give it a shake or tap the bottom to remove debris that has gathered in there overtime. Wipe everything using a damp cloth that's been wrung thoroughly, followed by a dry one. Allow to further air dry.

Men's leather briefcase should also be stored in the right manner. Give it a thorough cleaning and conditioning before placing it in a breathable bag or box. Never store it in warm and damp areas as mold can form on it. If what you have is the soft kind, stuff it with sheets of newspaper or unused garments to prevent deformation.
