What Do I Buy My Boss For His Birthday?

This wonderful scenario was presented to me recently, leaving me wondering what to do. We are a small company and are all very close but I imagine this scenario plays out in companies both large and small.

Last year I remember being very embarrassed when I was one of the only people not to get him anything for his birthday. It wasn’t something I was used to and really didn’t even put any thought into.

This year will be different though. I don’t want to spend a fortune but it would be nice to be able to buy him something nice that he can remember me by.

I decided a personalized birthday gift would be the way to go. Affordable and memorable.

After doing a little research on what his interests were I settled on simple and direct. We have a coffee machine here at the office and early last year my boss accidentally broke the mug that he had always used. I had assumed he replaced it but upon a little researching I noticed that he had opted for the disposable coffee cups many of us use instead. They are ok but nothing compared to having your own mug.

A personalized coffee mug was the absolute perfect gift! A combination of need and thought that he would surely appreciate.

The little extra time I spent thinking about this gift made it all worth it. Next time you are in this scenario don’t break the bank, instead, take a little extra time and really think about what they might need and add a personal touch to it.

The Perfect Birthday Gift For Mom

This summer my Mother turns 60 years old and my siblings and I want to make it a special birthday for her. I remember on her 40th birthday she had a huge surprise party with a Hawaiian theme that she loved. However, I think it was the actual trip to Hawaii afterwards that she might have loved more.

These days she insists that there be no big surprises and would be content having a BBQ with her children and grandchildren. She has spend years travelling the world and a trip to Hawaii, however nice, wouldn’t be as special to her as spending time with her family.

That is why we have decided to add a more personal touch to this years gift. Since December my Sister and I have been organizing old photos from our family and plan on making a giant photo album that will span from her childhood all the way up until now with all her grandchildren. This personalized birthday gift will add something more than any trip could do.

We will first have all of the photos scanned and then arrange them all in a book to be printed. Then we will create a personalized photo album that I am sure she will cherish.
